Spring Onion Raita | How to make Spring Onion Raita with step by step photos along with the description. It is one of my favorite raita. Spring onion raita tastes great with hot steamed rice. Let me tell you guys briefly about the Spring Onions. Leafy green vegetable – a tender, delicately flavoured herb is also known as ‘Scallions’. The bulb like structure at the bottom of these green leafy vegetables are the young onions. Though they smell mild, owing to the fact that smell or flavor of onions intensifies with age while growing.

Spring onions are not only tasty but also healthy too. It contains Vitamin C, health promoting minerals, fiber. So it helps in reducing the cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of heart disease, controlling the blood pressure levels. Nowadays Spring onions are readily available in markets in bunches along with other leafy greens. You can also grow them in your garden or backyard. My mom has grown in her garden and I have a video of the same in my Youtube channel How to grow Spring onions in your garden. And also here is a pic of Spring onions from my mom’s garden.

Spring Onion Raita

Spring Onion Raita | How to make Spring Onion Raita – here I have got this recipe with step by step photos, the recipe is really easy and tasty. You should try it once along with hot steamed rice. And remember have it along with hot rice otherwise it won’t tastes so great.

Raita is one of the dish prepared using Spring onion, you can also try making pachadi (Hashi or Bajji we call it in our language) . Which is more famous in my hometown, we prepare pachadi from almost all vegetables. Like Brinjal, cucumber, tomato, onion, garlic, beetroot, potato and many more. Roasted vegetables along with the spices is mixed with coconut milk and curd. usually only one type of vegetable is used, for example if brinjal is used then it is brinjal pachadi.

Spring onions are chopped and roasted then mixed with curd. You can use curd or the buttermilk because some people doesn’t like the taste of curd. Whisked curd would be the good option for this. otherwise you can also use coconut milk along with whisked curd. You can also serve this along with vegetable pulao or parathas.

Finally I would recommend you some of my other side dish recipes,

Tomato onion cucumber raita,

Bhindi fry or Bhindi masala,

Majjige huli or Mor kuzhambu
