Momos Chutney | Momo Sauce | Red Sauce for Momos – with step by step photos, description and video of the recipe is here. This mouthwatering spicy red chutney is served with hot dumplings or momos. Tangy spicy tomato chutney/ sauce tastes great when served with hot momos.

Momos Chutney

Veg Momos are popular street food in North India and Nepal. Moreover kids favourite snack item. Here is an easy recipe of preparing veg momos at home from scratch. Veg momos are popularly served with a red sauce or dip. There are numerous versions to the basic momos chutney. Here is a basic version of Momo Chutney.

Momos Chutney

Momos chutney | Momo Sauce

Mouthwatering spicy red chutney is served with hot dumplings or momos.

Cooling time 5 minutes mins

Servings 1 cup

Instructions
 

  • Take 2-3 red chillies.
  • Remove the seeds from the red chillies. 
  • Add the chillies and 3 normal sized tomatoes in a pan. 
  • Add 2 cups of water. 
  • Allow it to boil until the skin of tomato starts separating.
  • Let it cool for sometime. 
  • Once it is cooled a bit, remove the skin of tomato and add in the mixi jar. 
  • Add the chillies as well. 
  • Add salt to taste. 
  • To balance the sour taste, add 1/2 tsp sugar. 
  • Also add 5-6 cloves of garlic and small pieces of ginger. 
  • Add 1 tsp of Soy sauce. 
  • Blend into a smooth paste. 
  • Momo Chutney is ready. 
  • Serve with hot momos.

HOW TO MAKE MOMOS CHUTNEY | MOMO SAUCE WITH STEP BY STEP PHOTOS:

TIPS & VARIATION:

  1. Always choose ripe tomatoes.
  2. You can adjust the spice level based on your taste. If you want a spicier version of the chutney, add less sugar and increase the number of dry red chillies.
  3. You can also add 1 tbsp of vinegar to it, if you are storing.
