Hibiscus Tea Recipe | Refreshing Hibiscus Tea – with step by step photos, description ans video of the recipe is here. Healthy & refreshing hibiscus flower tea or also known as Hibiscus Infusion is prepared from fresh Hibiscus flowers.
Firstly, this tea has a gorgeous bright red colour, with a fruity, tart flavour with a hint of honey and lemon. Easy to prepare and can be prepared in few minutes of time. Either you can serve it hot or chilled. As the afternoon’s are getting warmer now, you can have this hibiscus infusion chilled with some ice cubes. This flower is available in many countries or can be purchased in its dried form.
Secondly, it is not like a regular tea, it’s a herbal tea made from either the fresh red hibiscus flowers or the dried ones. It is a great source of antioxidants, and widely used for lowering the blood pressure. Consuming this herbal tea in moderation is considered as safe. It may help in weight loss or preventing the weight gain.
Moreover, my favourite part of preparing this tea is, red hibiscus petals leaving the beautiful bright red colour to the water, when you add hot water to the petals.
In India, these beautiful Hibiscus flower petals are used to make hot or cold tea and also hibiscus salad. This this when I had been to mom’s home, there were many hibiscus flowers in the garden. I told her I’m thinking to prepare hibiscus infusion, then she introduced me Hibiscus salad recipe.

Furthermore, I have added honey as a sweetener just to avoid the sugar. You can also choose to add sugar or stevia or any other sweetener.
Hibiscus flower is rich in antioxidants and Vitamins like VitaminA, Vitamin C and Vitamin B1 and Iron. Rich in flavonoid glycosides which gives it a deep ruby red color.
If you are taking medicines should consult your doctor before start consuming it. People who already have low blood pressure, Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid this tea.

Hibiscus Tea Recipe | Refreshing Hibiscus Tea
Ingredients
- 5 Red Hibiscus Flowers
- 2 pieces Cinnamon Sticks
- 2 cup Hot Water
- 2 tsp Honey
- 2 tsp Lemon Extract
Instructions
- Take 5 Red Hibiscus flowers.
- Separate the petals of red hibiscus flower and throw the pistil part. Rinse it lightly to remove any impurities.
- Add the washed petals in a jug or glass jar. (If you use the glass jar, you will be able to see the colour change)
- Next add 2 cinnamon sticks.
- Boil two cups of water in a sauce pan and add it to the Hibiscus petals.
- Close the lid.
- Let it steep for about 5 minutes.
- Water turning to bright pink colour.
- After 5 minutes, Water will turn to reddish pink colour.
- Transfer to serving glass.
- Add 1 tsp of honey to each cups. (note: Don't add honey when it is hot)
- Add 1 tsp Lemon extract to each cups. stir it well.
- Hibiscus tea is ready to serve.

HOW TO MAKE REFRESHING HIBISCUS TEA WITH STEP BY STEP PHOTOS:

TIPS & VARIATIONS:
1. To serve it chilled, put 4-5 ice cubes in a glass and then pour the hibiscus tea into it.
2. I have used honey as sweetener. You can use any sweetener like sugar, stevia etc.
3. Please note that don’t add honey to anything that is too hot. Honey, when mixed with hot water, can become toxic. You can add honey when this tea is warm.
