Only one Earth, consume with care…

June 5, 2016 Pallavi Bhat Leave a Comment

Its June 5th, World Environment Day. In India World Environment Day was hosted in 2011 for the first time. Mainly it focuses on conserving the forests.

World Environment Day is celebrated to bring awareness about environmental issues like wastage and losses of food, deforestation, increasing global warming, and many more.

World Environment Day is celebrated by organizing various activities such as bicycle rally, exhibition on medicinal plants and its importance, awareness rallies, lectures, sapling planting, eco-walk, mass cleaning operations across the city, collecting garbage, distributing pamphlets on green awareness and so many activities in order to draw people’s attention towards wide range of environmental issues as well as bring difference.

Some institutions organized quiz, film shows, art exhibitions, clean up campaigns, recycling garbage and lot more regarding environmental pollution, energy saving and to save the planet.

92.7 Big FM organized largest national painting competition for kids on ‘World Environment Day’. Which is an effort to educate young minds about growing water crisis, to protect nature and the planet earth. Competition was held across the shopping malls, schools, auditoriums.

Every year, June 5th is celebrated as World Environment Day with a new theme. “One planet, consume with care”, “Only One Earth, Care and Share”, “A Tree for Peace”, “Global Warming; Global Warning”, “Development without Destruction”, “Give Earth a Chance”, “Plan for the Planet!”, “CO2-Kick the Habit: Towards a Low Carbon Economy”, “Join the race to make the world a better place”, “One World, One Environment” like these many slogans we can see in the public places.

Mahatma Gandhi said – “What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another”. It is so true that if we spoil the nature, environment it is as good as spoiling ourselves.

It is not supposed to be June 5th of every year to celebrate World Environment Day. If we consider every single day as World Environment Day then only it is possible to save nature, save ourselves.

What each one of us can do to save planet?

We all can start from our home, build a small garden

Keep clean around your house

Say ‘NO’ to plastic, use cloth bags

Conserve energy,

Save water as much as you can,

Reduce the waste production

Buy recycled products,

These are some of the things which we can adopt in our day to day activities.

So let’s put our hands together to save our nature for the betterment of our future.

How are you helping in saving our environment…? write your reviews…
