How to make Methi Pulao | Quick Methi Pulao Recipe – step by step photos, description, and video of the recipe is here. Flavoured rice prepared from fresh Fenugreek leaves, some veggies, herbs and spices. I have added here carrot and beans to balance the little bitterness of the Fenugreek leaves.
Firstly, you can use any vegetable of your choice, like carrot, beans, fresh green peas, potato, sweet corn etc. However whatever the vegetables you add, the taste of methi or fenugreek leaves.
Whenever I buy fenugreek leaves, the first thing that comes to mind is methi thepla and methi pulao. Fenugreek rice is a comfort food when served with cucumber raita. I love all types of pulao. I have already posted recipe for Paneer Pulao | Paneer Rice.

Furthermore, Fenugreek rice is a good option for kids lunch box. It’s a one pot dish, which can be prepared in few minutes. either you can prepare this in pressure cooker or instant pot.
Some quick tips or variations you can do are, I have used ghee to prepare this pulao. You can also make use of ghee instead of oil. Moreover you don’t need to chop the Fenugreek/ Methi leaves. Just remove the stem and wash them well in salt water to get rid of impurities.
Ensure the methi leaves are fresh, crispy and well washed. It is essential to wash any green leafy vegetable extremely well.

How to make Methi Pulao | Quick Methi Pulao Recipe
Ingredients
- 1.5 tsp Ghee
- Cinnamon small piece
- 2-3 Cloves
- 2 Bayleaf
- Pinch of Asafoetida
- 1/4 cup Onion chopped
- 1/4 cup Carrot chopped
- 1/4 cup Beans chopped
- 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 1/2 Green chilli
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin
- 1 cup Fenugreek Leaves
- 1.5 cup Rice washed
- Salt to taste
- 3 cup Water
Instructions
- Add 1.5 tsp of Ghee in a pressure cooker or in a pan. Heat the ghee.
- Add piece of Cinnamon.
- Next add 2-3 cloves.
- Also add 2 bay leaf.
- Next add 1/4 cup of chopped Onion. Sauté them. Let the onion becomes translucent.
- Then add 1/4 cup of chopped Carrot.
- Also add 1/4 cup of chopped Beans.
- Sauté them for 1 minute.
- Then add 1 tsp of Ginger Garlic paste.
- Add 1/2 green chilli.
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder and add 1/2 tsp of cumin.
- Next add 1 cup of clean/washed Fenugreek leaves.
- Sauté them for 1 minute or until the raw aroma of fenugreek/ methi leaves.
- Add 1.5 cup of washed rice.
- Mix everything well.
- Add salt to taste.
- Next add 3 cups of water.
- Mix well, close the lid and pressure cook.
- Cook for 2-3 whistles. Allow the gas to release on its own.
- Ready to serve with raita.
