Curry Leaves Chutney Powder | Karuveppilai Podi

Curry leaves powder can be used as a side dish to rice, roti, idli and dosa.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cup Curry Leaves
  • 2 TBSP Chana Dal
  • 1.5 TBSP Coriander Seeds
  • 2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2-3 Red chillies
  • Cinnamon small piece
  • 2 Cloves
  • 2 TBSP Roasted Chana dal
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder 
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Firstly, Wash the curry leaves and dry them beforehand. 
  • Separate the leaves from the stem. I have taken around 1.5 cup of Curry leaves.
  •  In a Pan, add 2 TBSP of Chana Dal. 
  • Then add 1.5 TBSP of Coriander seeds.
  • Next add 2 tsp of Cumin (Jeera) to it and roast for 2 minutes. 
  • Add 2-3 red chillies, adjust the spice level as per your taste. 
  • Then add small piece of cinnamon and 2 cloves.
  • Add 2 TBSP roasted channa dal. 
  • Dry roast until it turns aromatic. 
  • Add 1/2 tsp of Black pepper powder (you can also use 7-8 whole black pepper) and switch off the flame. 
  • Allow it to cool. 
  • In a pan, dry roast the curry leaves.
  • Roast until they get crispy and allow it to cool. 
  • Transfer the roasted curry leaves and the roasted spices to the blending jar. 
  • Add little salt to taste. 
  • Blend it to a smooth powder.
  • Curry leaves chutney powder is ready to serve.
