Our family trip vacation to Malaysia is one of the best and different experience we had till now. We were in Langkawi for 3 night & 4 days. So here I am going to explain you bit by bit about Langkawi itinerary. I hope it will be helpful to somebody out there.
4 days in Langkawi is perfect amount of time to spend and enjoy the delights of Langkawi, Malaysia. Let me tell you from the beginning. We had planned our trip in July second half.
At 4 O’ clock in the morning we reached Kuala Lumpur, from there we took another flight to reach Langkawi which was around at 6.30am.
Langkawi is a small island and four days is more than sufficient to visit all the best sightseeings, beaches, islands and thick mangrove forests. But friendly people and Malay culture might make you feel like extending your trip for more than four days. Practically not possible because you might have booked the flight tickets and all for the return journey. 🙁
Getting to Langkawi:
– By Air
– By Ferry
If you’re willing to put up with the crowds, the ferries operate four routes to Langkawi from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis, Penang and Satun in Thailand around the clock.
We read somewhere like some get sea sick by travelling by Ferry so we didn’t wanted take risk with our little one. without a second thought we had gone for flight.
Getting Around in Langkawi:
Once you’re on the island, there are a few options available to getting around. It is easy to travel if you have local number in your phone and the GRAB app. They have taxi service like ‘GRAB’ (GRAB is name of the taxi service like we have UBER). So travelling was easy and also the population is less, roads are so free and you can travel one end to another in pretty less time.
Many travellers do go for personal transport by renting the car for whole day.
Where to stay in Langkawi:
There are many hotels in Langkawi so you don’t have to worry about staying there. You get all kind of hotels like budget hotel, mid range and luxury hotels. It’s better to plan and book your hotel beforehand. So that it’s easy to go and check in.
We were staying in De Baron Resort Kedah, Malaysia. It was nice and quite staying there, with good ambience and good staff service. Rooms are quite old but they are maintaining it in quite good condition.
There are many other hotels too you can look into :
3. The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa
The very beautiful part is most of the people in Malaysia knows Tamil and English. 🙂
Dining in Langkawi:
Anyway Breakfast is included in your hotel booking in most of the hotels. Whenever you are booking the hotels then just check that too whether the breakfast is included or not. In city it doesn’t make any difference but the places like Langkawi truly it will.
Because we being a vegetarians finding food was the great task for us, All credits to Google 🙂
Though the hotels provide breakfast but the veg options are very less.
Thankfully we got Artisans Pizza which served vegetarian food and all kind of roti and curry, rice items like we get in Indian restaurants.
note: for all Indians I must tell you, Restaurants don’t give drinking water for free ! (like we get drinking water on the table before we order the food)
Shopping in Langkawi:
There are many shopping points available in Langkawi.
- Coco Valley – Underwater World Langkawi
- Temoyong Night Market (Thursday)
But we didn’t do much shopping in Langkawi except some fridge magnets because we had to travel to Penang and then to Kuala Lumpur. So we had kept big shopping plan in Kuala Lumpur as its easy for us to handle the luggage.
4 days in Langkawi : The perfect Langkawi itinerary
We didn’t cover much of the places other than the popular ones. because roaming full day with our little 2 year old was difficult without any rest. But this detailed 4 days Langkawi itinerary will help you to explore most of the beautiful places which Langkawi has to offer.
Day 1: Underwater World & Eagle Square, Langkawi
Underwater World, Langkawi
After finishing breakfast we proceeded to Underwater World. Whole trip was planned by considering our little one should enjoy. Underwater World is one such thing most kids like it so as our little one liked it too. Underwater world will take around 2 to 3 hours of time to roam around and look into the beautiful aquatic species.
There were variety of fresh water fishes from many parts of the world & tropical rainforest environment, a walk through 8 meter height tunnel which allowed visitors to see African penguins swimming around on top of them. Black Tip Shark and White Tip Shark in the hexagonal tank, there were many sections like invertebrate, koi pond, coral reef and venomous section.
Here are some of the glimpse of those:
Eagle square, Langkawi
Eagle square was nearby to hotel we were staying, so we just visited in the evening.
Day 2: Sky Bridge,Sky Dome, 3D Art Langkawi
After having the breakfast at the hotel we thought we could go for so called little adventurous thing Langkawi Sky Bridge. It was one of the awesome experience again. If you are going to enjoy the waterfalls then plan to go to Sky bridge in the morning and later to the waterfall. We had no plans of going to waterfall with our little one, so we went around 12 and had lunch in Subway. There are many other eating points too.
Then we headed to go for Sky bridge, after buying the ticket. For going to the bridge you have to take the cable car. once you get into the cable car, you will reach within 10 to 15 minutes of time to the middle station of the cable car. There is a viewing point, you can get there for taking few photos and then head to the sky bridge. Cable cars will be continuously running on both sides like for going and returning. But if you get down at the middle point again you may have to wait in the queue for getting into the cable car to go to the highest peak.
Sky Bridge is located almost 600 meter above sea level at the peak of Gunung Mat Cincang. 125 meter curved pedestrian bridge that offers breathtaking, exhilarating views of lush green forests, strait of Malacca & Andaman Sea. Sometimes you may feel bridge is shaking, it’s just because of the winds, but they say it is safe to walk on the bridge.

Here are some of those pics which we took there:
After seeing the views from sky bridge, we thought of returning. Once we reached the base of the sky cab station there were other attractions awaiting for us like Sky Rex, Sky Dome, 3D art gallery.
So we decided to go to Sky Dome, Equipped with 12 projectors, SkyDome offers 360 degrees of 3D image projections all around you, taking you into a different dimension of fun. It was fun and little one was enjoying every bit of it. It will be over within 15 minutes.
Then we went to 3D art gallery, there were many zones like aquarium zone, safari zone, fantasy zone, optic illusion zone and many more. There also we had a very good time. It took almost 1 hour to roam inside the 3D art Gallery. It was one of the best place to take pictures :). So check some of those picture here:
Day 3: Island Hopping
We had booked the Island hopping tour for the afternoon batch. i.e., at 2pm. They picked up from our hotel. It was a shared motor boat totally 10 people. Firstly they dropped us to Pulau Beras Basah Island. For one hour we played, enjoyed in water and our little one was not ready to come back. This Island was having white sandy beaches with clear water. It was like dream come true. One of the beautiful Island Langkawi has to offer. Many people were taking sun bath but we couldn’t. because we hadn’t taken the extra clothes along with us. Also check out the video on Island Hopping in Langkawi

Exactly after one hour our boat returned to pick up and then he had taken us to Pulau Singa Besar. That was a quick stop for Eagle Feeding. And then proceeded towards Dayang Bunting Island. On the way you get to see many nice scenic views and of the view nature had created, which is like (see below) Pregnant maiden or pregnant lady is lying on the bed.
In Dayang Bunting Island you have to buy tickets to go to Pregnant Maiden Lake, After a walk of 10 minutes there is a fresh water lake. if you have taken sun bath in the previous Island then you can take fresh water bath here, and also you can go for some adventures.

Day 4: Wildlife Park & Bird Paradise
We were going to Penang from Langkawi by Flight, our flight was around 4 in the afternoon. It was raining from the morning So we went to the Wildlife Park. Do remember our whole trip was planned just for our little one. That’s the reason we visited to the places where he can enjoy.
Wildlife Park is one such thing you can take kids along and feed the animals. There many species like Birds, mammals, reptiles, fishes and orchids. It is a fully covered wildlife park and the first such park in Asia. It has roofed and covered walkways all the way from the entry to exit so that be it rain or shine, you can always enjoy the park and its exhibits.
Apart from Animals and birds there is man made waterfall. Overall it was a very good and enjoyable for the little one also.
Here are some pics of those:
We headed back to our hotel and had lunch, left to the Airport to explore another destination Penang. Saying thanks to Langkawi for the awesome, memorable time we spent there.
