I haven’t dreamt of such beautiful things I will experience in our hometown. Tourism is getting developed at very good pace I can say.
Leave about an explorer, being a travel lover I’m really surprised when I came to know about we can go for boating in Honavar!!
Last week we had been to Boating in Sharavati Backwaters. It was an amazing experience to go in boat, coconut trees along the sides and many small mangrove islands. You can go for boating in the evening after 4pm or you can even go in the early mornings.

Mangrove Boardwalk
You can also visit Mangrove Boardwalk. It is a beautiful wooden walkway amidst the lush green Mangrove trees is one of the beautiful ways to enjoy nature and also helps in calming your mind. It’s the best place to spend 1 to 2 hours easily. Moreover Mangroves are always green irrespective of the season , they are salt tolerant, helps in filtering out the heavy metals from water, and prevents erosion in coastal areas.
Sharavathi Kandla Mangrove boardwalk is approx. 3 km from Honnavar city, right opposite to the eco beach. While driving from Honnavar to Bhatkal, Eco Beach is on the right side and for the Mangroves you have to take left turn.

Haigunda Island
Haigunda is the Prakrit form of Havyakunda. A special thing you need to know here is that this is a man-made island. Now you can go through the bridge to reach this island. Earlier days, to visit Haigunda Island one had to go with the help of a boat. During the Kadamba era, this Haigunda was the target of many royal families. That is the reason this place is separated from the land and all sides surrounded by Sharavathi River.
Some youngster should start regular one day cruise from Honna sr to Gerusoppa with onboard breakfast and lunch.
