Island Hopping Langkawi, Malaysia | Things You need to know – My Husband, Me and My son had been to Malaysia for a trip of 9 days (and we spent 3 days in Langkawi, 2 days in Penang and 2 days in Kuala Lumpur). It was Advit’s Birthday trip (he just turned TWO years now) and we wanted him to enjoy the most so we had planned the places which are kids friendly or I can say kids love to visit there.
Where to stay :
We were staying in De Baron resort Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia which we got at discounted price online. Stay was Good, but no much options in the breakfast for Vegetarians. Only the bread, cereals and fruits are the main items. Some coconut milk flavoured rice( also known as Nasi Lemak), it’s one of the worst dish I had till now (sorry guys for those who like it, everybody doesn’t have same taste). But fortunately we got a Artisans Pizza restaurant which serves vegetarian food and all kind of roti and curry items like we get in Indian restaurants. Many and many resorts are there to stay in Langkawi.
How to Travel :
Coming to the travel, it is easy to travel if you have local number in your phone and the GRAB app. Similarly they have taxi service like ‘GRAB’ (GRAB is name of the taxi service like we have UBER). So travelling was easy and also the population is less, roads are so free and you can travel one end to another in pretty less time as compared to India.
How to book Island hopping tour:
Island hopping in Langkawi is one of the most popular boat trip, priced at 40 RM to 50 RM based on the agent or operator you choose. Morning trip starts at 9am and afternoon trip at 2pm which is standard in most of the hopping tours. Duration will be almost 4 hours including the pick up and drop off to hotel. You can book through by calling them or else through the agency in the hotel you stay. There are small and large boats. Large boats can accommodate 20 people and smaller ones accommodate 8 to 10 people. If you are interested you can go on private boat also, price will be little higher.
Island Hopping, Langkawi :
Here is a video of our Island Hopping tour check it out.
We had booked the island hopping tour by calling one of them which we saw online. By 2pm pick up van had arrived at the hotel we were staying as they informed earlier.
Island hopping tour covers two Islands visit and Eagle feeding.
We started at about 2.30pm on the boat of about 10 people after wearing the life jackets, they had smaller life jackets too(I mean which is proper for my 2 year old.!) and exactly after half an hour they dropped us to the Pulau Beras Basah Island. Boat driver or Helmsman told that he will pick up after an hour. Pulau Beras Basah Island was like a dream island for me. Water looked like sea green colour and beautiful soft white sand. It was my first ever trip to an island. I was very happy so as my little one.
Here are the some pics from our Island hopping tour:
Pulau Beras Basah Island
We captured many pics and played in water, Advit(our little baby) was not ready to come out of the water. (You can have sun bathing if you have got the extra set of clothes and all).
After an hour, our boat arrived and we were taken to Pulau Singa Besar. There it was just a quick stop, that’s the home for Eagles and monkeys, you don’t get to explore the island there. Only you can watch the eagle feeding! not actually feeding most of the helmsman throw the water and eagles will come thinking that they get food.
Dayang Bunting Island
After that they had taken us to the Dayang Bunting Island. On way you get to see many nice scenic views and of the view nature had created, which is like (see below) Pregnant maiden or pregnant lady is lying on the bed.
Within 10-15 minutes we were taken to Dayang Bunting Island, there was a ticket counter and we bought the ticket(these are not included in the package so you have to buy these by paying some 6 RM I guess). After a walk of 10 minutes we reached fresh water lake. This is a fresh water lake surrounded by the mountains of thick forests. The lake was formed when a large underwater cave collapsed many years back. You will also see large limestone formations.
Carry water bottles and some snacks or chocolates along with you. While going to the lake its easy to get down the steps. But while returning you have to climb the steps that time it will be too thirsty and tired too. Actually there is a shop there which sells snacks, cold drinks. Also they give pedal boats and life jackets for rents.
On the way I got to know the Hornbills Love story.
Lake of Pregnant Maiden
If you are interested you can take bath in fresh water and some adventures also you can go for. As we had a small kid with us so we didn’t go for any adventurous things, we just lounged on the platforms.
After spending pretty much time (means about 45 minutes) we started climbing steps slowly carrying our little one. Ufff ! we were too tired. But it was worth…! 🙂

Note: be careful while getting in and out of the boat, though it is not so difficult.
Our boat had arrived at the place they dropped us. We headed our way back and our little one was too tired and slept on my lap. After reaching the jetty they again dropped us to the hotel we stayed.
Advit enjoyed a lot in water as well as seeing the eagles. Actually he learn’t the word ‘EAGLE’ there only.
If you are planning to go Langkawi anytime then please plan Island hopping too. Don’t miss it.
I can say actual beauty of Malaysia is hidden in the Islands of Langkawi. #Malaysiatrulyasia We Loved it.
Stay tuned for many more travel posts… 🙂
