Dark clouds moving so fast, birds are finding place to hide from rain, I am feeling the cool breeze hitting me, yes it’s going to rain in sometime. I prepared coffee for myself, settled in my usual place with coffee and my diary (where I had written important dates of my life). As coffee was going inside sip by sip, memories started coming over.
The story is of two years ago; my parents were searching a guy for me. I was 23rd by that time. Too early right…? yeah but it’s a right time for girls to get married.
As usual my life in Chennai was going smooth. One fine day (It was march 5th 2013), I was in office (Old Mahabalipuram Road, Chennai); everyone was busy working. No one cared about what others was doing. Some were going to pantry to have their coffee and exchange their day to day issues overall. You must have understood what I mean, issues include not only about office work. Some cracked jokes, everyone laughs at it.
My phone rang… I was getting call from dad. If its urgent then only mom and dad use to call me in my office hours. I received, dad was happy there and had a good news to share. He was in some guy’s home to give my jatakam (Astrology which should get matched to get married) and he didn’t have my photo to show in their home. So dad told you mail the photo to the guy so that everyone can see and he soon handed over the phone to the guy to exchange our Email ID’s.
I just asked his Email ID nothing else. How foolish I was. I didn’t even introduce myself, I didn’t even ask him ‘how are you’?
As he told his email id I just noted down and kept the phone… I shivered for a moment even in that hot summer.
His voice was sweet, calm, and I had spoken to him for the first time. It was all like a dream, didn’t even thought like so soon I would be able to hear his voice. 🙂
I wanted to see him. How it feels; you just heard the voice of the guy whom you are going to get married. As I got his email id I was able to knew his name. I wanted to get back to my PG in the evening and search his profile in Facebook. Whole day was like a dream. I sent my two or three photos to his email id. Later I got to know that he was also eagerly waiting to see my photo. But I was not able to find him in Facebook. I slept in the night but it was not normal. Dream was not like as usual, something new…!
Next day I checked my mail and the photo which I sent was still there in my outbox. I felt very bad and sent it again. After two days came a reply from other side, “Thank you for taking trouble to resend it again, Sorry I don’t get proper network coverage at home and couldn’t reply”. Also he had sent friend request on Facebook, and a link where I can directly see his photos. I was so happy to see that reply from him. 🙂
There it started our conversation…but we didn’t have each other’s contact numbers to chat or talk…
Finally, a day came… his family is coming to see me to our home. I was having mixed feeling- happy, scared, don’t know words can’t express that feeling.
It was April 28th 2013, he came with his family and close relatives around eight members at 10 O’clock in the morning. He was wearing pink shirt with formal pants and his face was also had become pink because of shy. And I was wearing magenta colour saree. Unfortunately i don’t have his photo to share. . 🙁
Once the formalities over (tea, coffee, sweets serving to the guests) they gave me a plate full of fruits, flower, bangles which is a custom to give it to a girl when they come for seeing a girl. After finishing all these, somebody told ‘let them talk in private’.
It was kind of embarrassing moment although which is very important before getting committed to somebody.
Then we went to our farm behind our house and talked for ten minutes about our job, stay and all. Once we returned all eyes were on us. But anyway we ignored it. 😉
His dad told that “we will let you know the decision after discussing with elders”, then they left.
All these things happened in an hour time. And left us in dilemma that what is going to be their decision…? Whole day we spent imagining what would be their answer …
Then I left to Chennai next day. As usual work was going on. After a week dad got call from them that they agreed to proceed further.
I didn’t even notice I finished coffee. I was lost in those memories. It was raining heavily. I felt life is so beautiful…Thank God for what all he gave in life…
