It took just a millisecond for my heartbeat to connect with my little bundle of joy. That feeling was awesome, I just can’t explain. That moment I will never forget in my life. Newborn will occupy our heart for lifetime.
The birth of a baby is no doubt a happiest day in the lives of parents. But it comes with bag full of responsibilities, innumerable sleepless nights, loads of changes and lot of physical and hormonal changes in mother. Everything is worth to see that beautiful smile of a baby. Once the baby arrives, priorities changes, totally the life changes. Being a mother is almost a roller-coaster ride in the first year at least. The things once we embarrassed to talk about becomes a part of our usual conversation now.
I have put together some of the points about newborns from my experience. Hope it will help somebody.
Funny baby:
Your baby have just spent nine months in the womb. Baby’s head may not be in proper shape, puffy faced and baby might be having fine hair (lanugo) on many parts of the body. Sometimes your baby might look funny but he will resemble the beautiful baby you dreamed.
Infant jaundice:
Newborn has pale eyes and with yellowish tinge in the skin. Don’t worry, most of the newborns will be having mild Jaundice. Within a week your baby would be alright. Expose your child skin to indirect sunlight by removing his/her clothes.
Dry skin in Newborn:
Newborn’s skin will be dry (typically that skin peels and flakes off). You don’t need to worry about this, you only need to massage your baby with non-fragrance oil. Preferably the coconut oil. Also you can consult your doctor for this.
Crying baby:
Sometimes baby’s cry a lot. That’s the only way they can communicate. That’s the only way to let you know they are hungry, cold, diaper needs to be changed, they are getting sleep or they want to be held. Beginning it might be frustrating, but mom will understand her baby day by day better that what baby needs and when.
Feeding the baby:
Breast milk is life’s nectar for the baby. Doctor’s advice to feed the baby every two hours initially. It might be frustrating in the beginning if the baby didn’t latch properly. For some it will take time to adjust. More the demand, more would the supply be.
Baby love your voice:
Messaging or watching movie while feeding the baby may seem okay. But try to talk the baby while he/she is awake. Respond to the baby if he/she needs you. Play and sing with the baby, baby love your voice.
Babies love outdoors:
Babies get bored sitting in the house. They are very eager to know new things. Do take your baby outdoors, most importantly head and ear should be covered properly. Let the baby enjoy the outside environment.
Babies know themselves well:
Though you may think baby is too hungry, but baby knows well. Baby will eat the amount of food how much it requires, and fuss over the extra bite. Don’t force the extra feed, if you force and make her eat then she may not like to eat next time.
Happy parenting…:) Stay tuned for more…
